Whitcomb Michael Allen passed away on November 23, 2020 at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa. He was 84.Mike was born on October 21, 1936 in Rochester, New York; where his father ran the Children’s Service Bureau. In 1941, his father moved the family to San Antonio, Texas; where Mike grew up. In 1960, Mike graduated from the University of Texas with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Mike joined the Navy from 1961 to 1967. In 1967, he married Kathleen Black, and they resided in Dallas, TX. Mike and Kathy were blessed with a son and a daughter. He enjoyed making stained glass, old cars, boating and reading. He loved sharing these with his family. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Whitcomb Henry Allen and Blanche Katherine Stephens Allen; and his daughter Katherine Lee Allen Free. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Allen and his son David Allen of Northport, Alabama; and his granddaughters Rebekah Allen of New Orleans, Louisiana; and Elizabeth Allen of Archer, Florida. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. There will be a graveside service at Sand Springs Cemetery on Saturday, December 5, 2020 2:00PM. The location is 1960 Sand Springs Church Rd in Gordo, AL 35466. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the M&M (Mature Member) Ministry group of First Presbyterian Church, Tuscaloosa; or a charity of your choice.
