Timothy Perry

Timothy A. Perry, age 80, of Northport, AL, passed away August 25, 2021 at home. No public services are planned at this time.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Perry and Jenny Perry; daughter, Gaye Marie Perry; son, Shawn David Perry; sister, Peggy Donnell; and brothers, Terrence Perry and Peter Perry.

Survivors include his wife, Frances J. Perry of Northport, AL; sons, Stephen Anthony Perry of Michigan, Kyle Joseph Perry of Lockport, NY; sisters, Claire Lambert, Linda Perry, and Cyndy Perry; and grandchildren, Tomiqua Perry, Kevin Perry, Camara Perry, Kyle Perry Jr., and Alexis Perry.

Tim was an avid puzzler; we have his puzzles all around the house. He read at least 100 books. He kept track of many more. He loved horse racing, wasn’t always lucky…his friends Bruce Wale and Mary Ann Chunco will attest to that…and playing cards. Tim enjoyed watching the hummingbirds on our feeder while he sat at the kitchen table. He took good care of our yard. He loved Dean Martin music and Johnny Cash. Tim was very much “there” for our sons, taking Kyle to ice hockey and Stephen to football games for high school and Hudson Valley Community College and his track meets.

Tim retired from General Motors, Lockport, NY and Tuscaloosa, AL. His first job was at Oxford Paper Company in Rumford, ME. Tim loved Maine, especially the coast. Tim enjoyed our friends, his friends, Kim Bennett and Brian Bennett, and talking about old times. He also loved garlic and olive oil. He will be sorely missed, running my errands, being with me, in good and bad - we loved each other.

SAFELY HOME

I am home in Heaven, dear one;

Oh, so happy and so bright!

There is perfect joy and beauty

In this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over.

Every restless tossing passed;

I am now at peace forever.

Safely home in Heaven at last.

Did you wonder I so calmly

Trod the valley of the shade?

Oh! but Jesus’ love illumined

Every dark and fearful glade.

And He came Himself to meet me

In that way so hard to tread;

And with Jesus’ arm to lean on,

Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve so sorely,

For I love you dearly still;

Try to look beyond earth’s shadows,

Pray to trust our Father’s Will.

There is work still waiting for you,

So you must not idly stand;

Do it now, while life remaineth –

You shall rest in Jesus’ land.

When that work is all completed,

He will gently call you Home;

Oh, the rapture of that meeting;

Oh, the joy to see you come!
