Sam Gurney, 58, was called to his eternal resting place on November 23, 2020. He entered this world on June 15, 1962, in MS, born to Samuel and Mary Gurney. Services will be Sunday, November 29, 2020, at 12 pm at Magnolia Chapel South with visitation on hour prior, Brother Ronald Wright will officiate, burial will follow at Burwell Cemetery in Meridian, MS. He is survived by his daughter Natalie Ann Gurney of Decatur, sons Samuel Alexander Gurney of Tuscaloosa and Matthew Nathaniel Gurney of Texas, step-son Logan Blizzard of Huntsville, mother Mary Virginia Rickles of Tuscaloosa, sisters Cherelle Tidwell (Brent) of Tuscaloosa, Tami Arthur of Redding, CA., Leslie Cattaneo (Gioranni) of San Diego, CA, brothers Troy Rickles (Diane) of Venice, FL. stepbrothers Boyd Gurney of San Diego, CA., Billy (Wilborn) Beddingfield and Bobby (Robert) Gurney of Meridian, MS., Stepmother Betty Lynn Connell of San Diego, CA.He is Preceded in death by his grandparents F.A. and Doris Glisson, Sam P. Gurney, father Sammy L Gurney, Sister Suzanne Steinhilber and stepfather Edward Rickles. Sam Gurney was born June 15, 1962 in Meridian, MS. He Graduated from Forest Hill High in Jackson, MS. Class of 1979. Sam was always athletic and played tennis his senior year, being recognized as most valuable player and the state tennis champion in Mississippi. He continued his education with two years of junior college and one year at The University of Alabama.He started a career in building and construction and worked in the Tuscaloosa area until 2002 and then moved to Huntsville were, he continued building until his passing.His family meant everything to him, and his dearest most treasured friends were Bill, Gary, Robert and Steve as well as many other precious friends he held close to his heart.His passion was his work and making people laugh. He always tried to be funny and so entertaining. He loved playing video games with Bill every afternoon that they could.His most prized treasure was his Natalie always.Sam was saved and knew Jesus Christ paid the price for his Salvation.Pallbearers will be Robert Brown, Bill Anders, Gary Kincaid, Steve Perreault, Logan Blizzard, Troy Rickles, Brent Tidwell.Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Steinhalber, Robert Scarbrough, Kenny Seale.
