Ngu Cong Do, age 82 of Tuscaloosa passed away on July 28, 2022 at DCH Regional Medical Center. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022 at Magnolia Chapel South from 8:00am to 12:00 noon.

Mr. Ngu Cong Do was born in April 10, 1938 in Nha Trang Khanh Hoa, Vietnam. He is the youngest in a family of nine. In his childhood, he attended elementary and middle school in his home town, and later moved to Sai Gon. In the capital of South Vietnam, he completed high school there. After receiving his diploma, he attended Thu Duc infantry school and served in the Vietnam Republic Army during the Vietnam War. His highest and final ranking was Lieutenant Colonel Battalion Commander in the Long Khanh Provice of South Vietnam. He later married Thai Thi Nguyen in 1965 and had three children: Minh, Lien, and Son Do. After the war, the communist regime placed him in prison, disguised under as an education camp for ten years. In 1984, he was finally released and lived life as a farmer with his youngest son, Son Do. He was placed in an HO Program ten years later  and left to live in the United States in 1994. He lived and worked in Atlanta Georgia by himself until he retired in 2006. In the summer of 2018, he moved in to live with his youngest son's family in Alabama for several years along with his grandchild, Jenny Do. It was there he was diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away peacefully in the love of his son's family.
