Myra Rust

Myra Lane Rust (Waddell) of Northport, Alabama passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Hospice of West Alabama with family by her side. She is survived by son Stephen, her daughters Kim Lopez (Alan) and Scarlet Robison (John) as well as six grandchildren. Myra was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob”, in 2012.

Myra was the oldest of 12 and grew up in Anniston, Alabama where she met her husband. She was a caregiver her entire life and loved taking care of her family and anyone else that came her way. No one ever left her house hungry. Myra will be remembered as being a loving parent and grandmother, a great cook and for being extremely generous.

The funeral will be held at Magnolia Chapel North funeral home in Northport on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 2:00 with visitation beginning at 12:30 for family and 1:30 for friends lead by pastors John Kearns and Charles Herron. A private graveside service will follow. Pallbearers will be grandsons Logan Averett, Brennan Averett, Miller Robison, Taylor Lopez, Connor Lopez, and Justin Rogers.

The family would like to thank all the family and friends who have prayed and helped along this journey. Thank you to Dr. Mustafa Ahmed, Dr. Gregory von Mering and Katie Evatt, CRNP at UAB Structural Heart and Valve Clinic for their professionalism, expertise and heartfelt love you have shown Myra and our family. Thank you to Dr. Brian Whilhite for the loving care you have shown Myra and our family over the years. Thank you to all the nurses and hospital staff at Northport DCH for the kindness and patience you have exhibited. Thank you to all the nurses, therapists and aides at DCH Home Healthcare who have provided excellent service over the past 6 weeks. Thank you Tracy Daniel and Tina Jones for your faithfulness and loving kindness you’ve showered Myra with. Lastly, thank you to the entire staff of Hospice of West Alabama for making the last steps of this journey peaceful.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in her honor be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
