Lucille Grote Mitchell, age 88, formerly of Greensboro, passed away on August 8,2019 at Moundville Health and Rehab.

At her request, a private graveside service was held at Newbern Cemetery on August 9, 2019. Rev. Doug Jolly officiated. Magnolia Chapel South handles arrangements.

Lucille or Cile as she was known by family and friends was born in Winter Haven, Florida to Luther Louis and Bessie Miller Grote on January 17, 1931. They moved back to Greensboro when she was a toddler and she lived there for the next 84 years. Cile was a resident of Pine Valley Retirement Community in Tuscaloosa for over three years where she enjoyed making new friends and the constant social activity provided there. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was involved in the choir and a founding member of the Excelsior Sunday School Class. She followed her children and grandchildren through all sports and any activity they were involved in.

Cile is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Curtis P. Mitchell ( T.A.), her parents; Luther and Bessie Grote, brother; William Miller Grote, sisters; Bessie (Bess) Grote Johnson, and Louise Grote Hollis.

She is survived by her daughter, Sallie Broussard (Dan), sons; Curt Mitchell (Lavonne) of Vonore, TN., and Louis Mitchell (Lori) of Mobile, granddaughters; Sarah Broussard of Auburn, Danielle Henry (Trey) of Newburn, Kayley Pendergast (T.J) of Livingston, and Audrey Wineland of Mobile, grandson; Hayden Mitchell of Hoover, great grandchildren; Kayden and Arie Quinn of Auburn, MAC and Caulder Henry of Newburn, Langston and Roy Pendergast of Livingston and Annalise and Slayder Wineland of Mobile.

The family request memorials be made to First United Methodist Church of Greensboro or to your favorite charity.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the excellent staff and doctors at Moundville Health and Rehabilitation for all their care and support.
