John Willingham

John Steven Willingham “Johnny”, age 41, of Northport, AL, died April 26, 2021 surrounded by his beloved family.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Campground Methodist Church Cemetery located at 12901 Campground Rd, Northport, AL 35475. Minister Gene Burbage will officiate, and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home will direct.

He is survived by his wife Justa, of Northport, his children, Jodi Caroline Willingham, Jackson Powell Willingham and Jentry Lewis Willingham; mother, Loretta Herring Willingham; grandmother, Billie Jean Herring; brothers, Bo Smith (Laura) Gulf Shores, AL and Joe Buck Willingham III (Dana); his in-laws, Johnny and Susie Powell; sister-in-law Katherine Manderson (Buddy) and brother-in-laws Cole Powell (Brittany) and Wesley Powell.

He is preceded in death by his father, Joe Buck Willingham Jr. (Jodi), and grandparents, Joe Buck Willingham Sr, Lena Marcum (Dempsey) and John Lewis Herring.

Johnny is a graduate of American Christian Academy. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He was employed by B.F. Goodrich for the last 15 years.

Johnny married his high school sweetheart Justa, the love of his life. Together they raised their family which is built on faith in God, trust, love and respect.

His world revolved around his children. His greatest joy was watching and supporting Jodi Caroline in gymnastics, cheering and soccer. He is so proud of her success at the U of A. Johnny was not a sideline dad. He coached Jack and Jentry in football and baseball. He loved nothing more than watching his boys play ball.

Johnny is an amazing husband, father, son and friend, but the title most important to him is that he is a Christian. He is the one who keeps us laughing, grills the best food, keeps gas in all of our cars, has us at church and every other event on time. He never starts a meal without praying first, shows up every time no matter what and always says “I love you”.

Pallbearers will be Cole Powell, Wesley Powell, Buddy Manderson, Chris Willingham, Adam Bambarger and Scott Renn.

Honorary Pallbearers are American Christian Academy, B.F. Goodrich STS Shop, Central Church of Christ and University Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Christian Academy for Johnny’s children in memory of their dad.
