Jimmie Burton

I t is with great sadness that the family of Jimmie (Jim) Allen Burton, age 73, of Tuscaloosa, announces his passing on February 1, 2021. He was born November 11, 1947.

Jim was a Veteran of the Vietnam War where he served two tours as a Military Police Officer. Upon his return, he worked diligently for Alabama Power for 48 years, before retiring and spending his time enjoying life. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, where he rarely missed a shot. He was a generous, selfless, and humble husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be grievously missed by all.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents J.B. and Maxine (Burchfield) Burton, brothers' Terry Burton and Pete Burton, and loving wife of 40 years Kay Burton.

Survivors include wife Toni Burton, Sons; Kyle Burton (Amanda), and Dr. Kent Burton, stepchildren; Andy Lynn (Stephanie), Ashley King (T.R.), sisters; Charlotte Smith (John), Jan Freeman (Ronnie), Carolyn Beckman,brother's Joe Burton (Gloria), Bill Burton (Ellen), Jerry Burton (Diane), grandchildren; Daylon, Charleigh & Parker Lynn, and Talin King, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 5, 2021, at Magnolia Chapel South at 12:30 to 1:30 pm and a graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm at Oak Hill Cemetery in Moundville, AL with Bro. Hank Atchison officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing.

Pallbearers will be Rusty Tunnell, Randy Tunnell, Steve Barber, Andy Lynn, Daylon Lynn, T.R. King. Honorary Pallbearers are the Staff of Northport DCH ICU, Employees of Alabama Power, Friends and neighbors of the Big Sandy Community.
