Gary “Beaver” Dillard, age 64, met his Loving Lord and Savior and received his Ultimate Healing on Wednesday, June 17th, after a 2-year battle with colon cancer.  He was a wonderful, loving husband to his wife, Judy Averette Dillard, and a friend to many across this nation.  He was affectionately known as “Beaver” by all who knew and loved him.

Gary was a very talented, God gifted musician who used his musical talent for the Lord for over 18 years with the Kingsmen Quartet playing steel guitar, banjo, dobro, and harmonica.  During his tenure with the Kingsmen, he performed in many venues from coast to coast including the White House and Grand Old Opry.

After leaving the Kingsmen, he pursued his education to become a respiratory therapist. He furthered his education and received his Masters Degree from the University of Alabama to later become an Instructor of Respiratory Therapy for Kettering National Seminars.

He is preceded in death by his parents W.B “Bud” and Betty Dillard and beloved mother-in-law Dophia Averette.  He was greatly loved and adored by his family and friends.

He leaves his loving wife of nearly 42 years Judy Averette Dillard, brother Terry Dillard (Fredia), sister-in-law Jo Anne Thomas (Cecil), niece Sheryl Tubbs (Allen), nephews Brian Thomas (Patti), Brett Averette (Alaca), Brannon Averette (Leslie), a host of great nephews and nieces as well as many friends across the nation.

His Homegoing Celebration service will be Monday, June 22, at Taylorville Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Pate, Rev. Danny Lovett, and Scott McNeily. Visitation will be held at 11:30 am with service following at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Moundville.
