Frank Maxwell, Jr.

Frank Moody Maxwell, Jr., age 81, died peacefully on April 26, 2021 while surrounded by the enduring love of his wife and two daughters.

He was born in Port Arthur, Texas at Saint Mary Hospital on August 27, 1939 and resided in Tuscaloosa with his family.

Frank proudly served his country as a US Marine during the Bay of Pigs invasion. Afterwards, he returned to Tuscaloosa to build a small business and start his family with his wife, Louise.

He believed he could accomplish whatever he set out to learn, and, for him, that included an eclectic collection of accomplishments: piano; French pastry class, making homemade wine, candy, and bread; small engine repair; metal working; gardening; Spanish; and, his dearest love, woodworking. But nothing in the world made him happier than a tableful of friends and family eagerly awaiting his arrival from the grill with stacks of blackened, grilled, smoked, seared, and barbequed meats all cooked to his grill-master perfection.

Frank was a beloved member of his church family at First Freewill Baptist in Northport for the past twenty years where he served as Treasurer and Sunday school teacher. He was also an officer of the West Alabama Wood Workers Association where he gave of his time and his talents for many years.

A man of few words, Frank rarely missed an opportunity to share – whether a story, a helping hand, or (most often) a meal. Frank was a staunch believer in loyalty, service, and honor and treating every person with dignity and respect. His family takes peace and comfort knowing that Frank was a strong believer in Christ and has gone to be with Lord.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Louise (Bogel) Maxwell, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Louise; daughters Ellen (Robert) and Christy (Marco) Maxwell; brother Farley (Judy) Maxwell; grandchildren Maxwell, Sophia, and Elena; nieces and nephews Saralyn, Steven, and Farley (Kristina) Maxwell, Jr.

Private family graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert McNelly, Marco Araya, Maxwell Brown, Rick Latham, Thomas Dedrick, and Jerry Conway. Honorary pallbearers are Farley Maxwell and Farley Maxwell, Jr.
