Our Mom was the strongest, most independent woman we ever knew.  She was a widow for 30 years and until the age of 96 she lived independently. She married Jack at the age of 19 and in 1944 they moved to Detroit, Michigan where she was a “Rosie the Riveter” during WWII. She worked in a converted Chrysler Desoto plant building B-29 bomber wings. After moving back to Tuscaloosa in 1945 she worked at Kress Department Store, Woolworths, and A & P Grocery.  She and Jack then operated a trucking/logging business until he retired in 1990.

Her favorite job was being a mom, grandmother, and great grandmother. She went to every school event or sporting event her grandkids were involved in. The day she found out she was going to be a great grandmother she cried and said, “I never thought I’d live to see grandchildren and now I’m having great grands! Children brought her the biggest smiles and the most joy.

She was a lifelong member of Campground United Methodist Church where she was baptized at the age of 15. She lived her entire life in the Samantha Community. She was a strong and steady constant in our lives and her sweet smile will be missed by many.

Proverbs 31: 25 Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come.
