Mrs. Betty Lou Barrett Bailey of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, passed away on November 6, 2021 at Hospice of West Alabama. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery in Elrod, AL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Corinth.

Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Jesse Bailey; her parents; sister, Oneida Barrett; and brothers, Truman Barrett, W. L. Barrett and Horace Barrett.

Surviving are her daughters, LuAnn Springer (Lynwood) and Laura Cabaniss (Rodney); and son, Russell Bailey (Kristal); cherished grandchildren, Colby Kimmel (Chris), Robbie Wilson (Kyle), Tyler Bailey, Palmer Cabaniss, and Jessica Cabaniss; along with great-grandchildren, Barrett Kimmel, Jack Kimmel, Robert Wilson and Rhett Wilson.

Mrs. Bailey was born in Elrod, Alabama to Walter S. Barrett and Gertie Mae Mills Barrett. She cherished her family and the Elrod community where she grew up. She was an active member in Corinth Baptist Church and later at Woodland Forest Church. She strived to provide a Christian example for her children and grandchildren. She led a life of service to others and left behind a legacy of love for her family.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Cabaniss, Lynwood Springer, Palmer Cabaniss, Kyle Wilson, Chris Kimmel, and Ken Free.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Ross Vaughn, former colleagues and friends of the Tuscaloosa County Board of Education, nurses and caregivers at Hospice of West Alabama, and friends and caregivers at Crimson Village.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorials be made to Corinth Cemetery Foundation, Hospice of West Alabama, or a charity of one’s choice.
