William Terry Martin, age 77, of Pineville, Louisiana, died on Friday, June 26, 2026. Services will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South with Rev. Ron Wilson officiating and soloist. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Eleanor Martin, and his grandparents, William and Leona Martin, and Tip and Lela Ambrose.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Carol P. Martin of Pineville, LA; his son, Brian Martin of New Smyrna Beach, FL; his granddaughter, Kellyanne Martin of Hernando, MS, and his sister, Cathy Martin of Northport, AL.
Terry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Terry was a 1966 graduate of Tuscaloosa High School. He received a B.A. from Samford University, an M.L.S. from the University of Alabama, and an M.A. from Samford University. He was a professional librarian at Samford University and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a professional librarian and also the Director of the Library at Georgetown College and Louisiana College.
Terry was ordained as a minister and deacon by New Hope Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC. He was currently a member of First Baptist Church, Pineville, LA. Terry enjoyed genealogical research as well as RV camping and traveling to all 50 states and eight countries. He enjoyed watching Alabama football.
Pallbearers will be Brian Martin, Allan Hinton, Trent Owens, Charlie Watts, J. R. West, and Steve Terry.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Samford University Library (library.samford.edu/giving.html) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org).
