Valeria Mae Carter Brown, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Northport, Alabama on August 28, 2025, at the age of 68.

Born on March 19, 1957, in Roswell, New Mexico, Valeria lived a life marked by grace, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Jerome Carter and Bobbie Frank Davis Carter.

Valeria is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, 5 months, and 16 days, Billy Ray Brown, and their three children: Adam Carter Brown of Austin, Texas, and his wife Jennifer Wilson, along with their children Maryella Brown and Camden Brown; Abby Elizabeth Brown Rushing of Northport, Alabama, and her husband Brandon Rushing, and their son Tyce Rushing; Andrew Jared Brown of Northport, Alabama, and his wife Angelica Brown, and their children Landyn Brown and Logan Brown.

She is also survived by her sister, Tywilla Joy Carter Gurganus, her brother-in-law Tommy Brown and wife Evonne Brown, all of Northport, Alabama. Valeria was a beloved aunt to several nieces and nephews.

Valeria was an active and cherished member of Macedonia United Methodist Church, where she served faithfully as the church bookkeeper and pianist. Her music brought comfort and joy to many, and her dedication to the church was a reflection of her deep faith and servant's heart.

A talented and respected QuickBooks ProAdvisor, Valeria ran a successful bookkeeping business for many years, supporting local businesses with her expertise and integrity.

A private memorial service celebrating Valeria's life was held on August 31, 2025, overlooking Lake Tuscaloosa at the Sonrise Pavilion of Macedonia United Methodist Church. Family gathered to honor her legacy, share memories, and find comfort in the love she gave so freely."But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint." - Isaiah 40:31

Valeria succeeded in every way that mattered. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
