Stanley Henson

Stanley Wayne Henson, age 69, of Northport, Alabama, passed away April 20, 2024 at his residence. Services will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Coker with Dr. Randy Davis, Dr. Eric Boykin, Rev. Tim Tindle, Rev. Al Fike, Rev. Mike Griffin, Rev. Greg Henry, Pastor Glenn Kennedy, Rev. Bob Kendrick, and Pastor Christian Henry officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the service in the fellowship hall of the church. Burial will be 12:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2024, in Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel North directing.


He was preceded in death by his parents, William Ralph Henson and Doris Dobbs Henson.


Survivors include his loving wife and partner in ministry, Brenda Johnson Henson; daughters, Summer Henson Beasley (Brian) and Haley Henson Adkins (Bryce); son, Shayne Henson; sister, Rickey Henson Estes; grandchildren, Brooks Henson, Brodey Beasley, Brylan Beasley, Emmie Grace Beasley, Baier Adkins, and Cove Adkins; five great-grandchildren, father-in-law, Hughey Johnson, mother-in-law, Sue Johnson; nephews, Eric Estes (Kristy), Bill Estes, and Christian Henry (Laura); and niece, Lauren Ashley Pounders (Ryan).


For over 50 years, Stan served as a worship pastor at several churches including FBC Vancleave, MS, FBC Jasper, AL, FBC Greenwood, AR, Green Acres Baptist, Warner Robbins, GA, South Highland Baptist, Little Rock, AR, New Life Baptist, Avilla, AR, and almost 30 years at Mount Olive Baptist, Coker, AL. He graduated from Satsuma High School, Satsuma, AL; and was a graduate of William Carey University, Hattiesburg, MS, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, New Orleans, LA, and completed additional studies at Denver College at the University of Denver, Denver, Colorado.


Stan enjoyed books, sports, art, nature, and traveling to new places. He loved good conversation and opportunities to laugh. He never met a stranger and had an unforgettable sense of humor. Stan lived his life loving God and people. Serving Jesus was his passion. Stan loved music and song. His beautiful gifts led countless numbers of worshippers to the throne of God, allowing them to focus on the greatness and glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. This was, above all, the heart of his ministry.


Pallbearers will be Brodey Beasley, Brylan Beasley, Sammy Channell, Eric Estes, Bill Estes, Michael Fike, Jim Hallmon, Greg Henry, Larry Malone, David Richardson, and Steve Boswell.


Honorary pallbearers are MOBC Praise & Worship Choir – Praise Band, Mount Olive Baptist Church, Dr. Pamela Hughes, Dr. John Crew and staff of the Lewis & Faye Manderson Cancer Center, Hospice of West Alabama, Home RN Tuscaloosa, Dr. Steve Lovelady, Dr. Jeanne P. Lipscomb, MOBC Sisters Bible Study Group, 7 South Oncology Unit DCH Tuscaloosa.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Home of Grace for Men, 14200 Jericho Road, Vancleave, MS 39565.
