Sara Jo Owens

Sara Jo Owens, 81 of Tuscaloosa, passed away November 16, 2025 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Magnolia Chapel South at 11:00 am with Rev. Hank Atchison officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. 

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert O. Owens (Bobby) and her parents; Robert S. Martin and Sadie L. Martin.

Sara Jo is survived by her daughters; Lisa M. Price (Dennis), Kristin O. Hamner (Todd), son; Trent Owens (Jacki), grandchildren; Ashley Parker (Joel), Foster Hamner (Cissy), Drew Hamner, Lily Hamner, Isabell Hamner, Kasey Price, great grandchildren; Maverick Parker, Sawyer Parker, and Magnolia Hamner.

Sara Jo grew up in Havana, Alabama. She attended Hale County High School where she served in various groups and was elected homecoming queen prior to graduation in 1961. She and her husband were married in December of 1964 and were married for 49 years and had three children together.  Sara Jo was actively involved in her children's' activities throughout the years. While she never worked a formal job, she was a very skilled seamstress. For many years  she was the seamstress for the University of Alabama  Crimsonettes, creating their gameday uniforms. She later started creating bridesmaid dresses for many weddings. She was very creative and enjoyed making costumes for her grandchildren. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and listening to all the adventures of her grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Todd Hamner, Dennis Price, Foster Hamner, Drew Hamner, Joel Parker, and Kasey Price. Honorary pallbearers will be special friends from Gray's Enterprise: Shavonne, Freda, Veronica, Monique, Shar and La'Shondra.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to American Diabetes Association.
