Ray Douglas Dodd, 77 of Northport, AL passed away on April 19th 2023 at Hospice of West Alabama. 
 
Ray was born on March 22, 1946 to V.R. & Dezzie  Dodd. 
 
Ray graduated from Hubbertville High School and later went on to receive his Masters Degree in psychology from the University of Alabama. 
He was employed at Bryce Hospital as a psychologist for 41 years and retired in February 2015.  He always had a passion for helping others in his community. 
Ray was a loyal husband, father & friend. He would volunteer to help anyone in need & took time to make sure everyone was well cared for. As a Christ-follower he made sure God’s love was evident to all. 
 
Ray was married to his wife Debra in 1978 and they were married for 45 years. They had two daughters, Kristen Dodd Bowers (Jimmy) and Ashley Dodd McIntyre (Joseph) and one grandson, Luke James Bowers. 
Ray enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandson Luke. He loved going to watch Luke play flag football & cheer him on from the sidelines. 
 
Over the years Ray enjoyed spending time outdoors , riding his bike and playing tennis. He was able to play in many local tennis tournaments where he won many matches in singles & doubles and earned the nickname “the cobra” for his strong tennis serve. 
 
Ray is survived by his wife Debra Dodd of Northport, AL, two daughters Kristen Dodd Bowers (Jimmy) of Spanish Fort, AL. 
Ashley Dodd McIntyre (Joseph) of Tuscaloosa, AL. And one grandson, Luke James Bowers of Spanish Fort, AL. 
 
Ray will be greatly missed by his family and friends but they are thankful they will see him again because he put his trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. 
 
A memorial service will be held on Monday April 24th, 2023 at 12:30pm at Church of the Highlands Tuscaloosa with visitation prior from 11am-12:30pm.
