Rose Johnson

Rose M. Johnson, age 69, of Tuscaloosa, formerly of Moundville, Alabama passed away June 22, 2025. Celebration of Life Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa, Alabama with services livestreamed on the Tabernacle Baptist Church Tuscaloosa Facebook page.

Rose was born on June 15, 1956, to the late William and Jane Johnson of Montserrat, West Indies. Rose confessed Christ at an early age. After graduating high school, she went to Bluewater Bible College in St.Thomas, Virgin Islands in 1975. She then went to St. Croix, VI where she taught first grade. Rose later moved to New Jersey. While attending a church conference there, she met her forever love Nathaniel James. After stealing his heart, they married and moved to Moundville, AL. Rose worked faithfully for the State of Alabama where she eventually (lol) retired in 2023. After which, she enjoyed exercising with other seniors, taking computer classes, and so much more. She didn't realize what she was missing.

Rose joined the First Missionary Baptist Church in Moundville under the leadership of Rev. David Bennett, Sr. She served faithfully teaching God's word in Sunday School, Tuesday Bible Class, and VBS. Rose continued to participate on Thursday prayer call...After moving to Tuscaloosa, she joined the Tabernacle Baptist Church where her faithfulness and passion for Christ continued as a Missionary, Sunday School teacher, and Bible Study Group.

Rose was preceded in death by husband, Nathaniel James, son, Lionel Weekes, Jr., and parents, William and Jane Johnson.

She leaves to cherish twelve siblings: John Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri; Edward (Janette) Johnson of Toronto, Canada; Lillian (Will) Woods of St. Croix, Virgin Islands; Dorcas Johnson of Toronto, Canada; Jacqueline Pierre of New Haven, Connecticut; Mary Johnson, of London, England; Maurine Johnson of Bronx, New York; Janesta Johnson of New York, New York; Leonard (Joyclyn) Johnson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Vanesta Johnson of London, England; and Eleanor (Lloyd) Wolfe of Atlanta, GA, and other family and friends.
