Ronald "Ron" Rosser McCrory, 77, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, passed away peacefully in his sleep Sunday evening, September 20, 2026. Born September 27, 1948, in Mobile, AL to Tenice & Manie McCrory, Ron graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School in '67 and proudly served in Vietnam in the United States Navy.

A man of faith, free-spirited adventure, and quiet strength, Ron carried a deep rooted love for the Lord that guided his steps. Fueled by curiosity and wanderlust, he once hitchhiked across the country from Alabama to California, taking in the open road and the stories of everyone he met.

Music was the heartbeat of his life-whether writing original songs, playing his guitar with friends, or performing on stage. When he wasn't playing music, he was an avid domino player who brought a lively smack-talking energy to every game.

For decades, Ron worked as a skilled painter alongside his closest pal, Cedric Chalmers, helping to "paint the town" and transform homes and businesses across the community.

Central to his identity was his commitment to Alcoholics Anonymous. With over 30 years of continuous sobriety, AA was the anchor of his life, where he faithfully lived the principles and selflessly sponsored others one day at a time.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Tenice McCrory and Manie Rosser McCrory Barbour; brother, Gerald Wayne McCrory; son, Alex Gladden; and grandson, Beckett Dorough.

He is survived by his children: Latasha Leigh McCrory, Samantha Sanders Dorough (Brad), Aaron Wayne McCrory, and Brandy Gladden (Alex); grandchildren, Alexis Gladden and Brandon Gladden; sister, Margie McCrory Fields; brother, Walter Robert McCrory (Sue); nephews and nieces Bryant Fields (Beverly), John Darryl Fields (Priscilla), Becky Fields Garner, Theresa Fields Blake, Brenda Bell (Josh), and Dax Ewert (Kaitlyn); along with numerous cousins and great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

A Memorial & Celebration of Life will be held at Northport Community Center located at 2100 Park St. Northport, AL 35476 on Sunday, October 11th from 2:00pm to 4:30pm. Please bring a covered dish to share and a guitar if you play. All musicians are encouraged to come and perform a "Pickin' & Grinnin'" in Ron's honor.
