Robert Ferguson

Robert Ferguson was born September 20, 1942 to John Morris and Lydia Maybell Ferguson. He went to Heaven on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at the age of 82. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Morris, and Gerald Ferguson and his sister Joyce Howell. 

Robert was married for 59 wonderful years to his favorite person whom he affectionally called Mary. Together they built a beautiful family that began with three daughters and grew into a legacy of 29. 

He is survived by his wife, Mary Evelyn and his children Melanie Crawford (Rick), Evelyn Seale (Jay), and Traci Ferguson, his grandchildren, Mary Beth McCray (Brandon), Blake Seale, Jackson Seale (Lauren), Caleb Crawford (Summer-Linn), Chandler Hendrix (Will), Craig Crawford (Leigh Anne) and Ella Kate Ferguson, great grandchildren; Poppy, Sunny, Ruby and Ivy Crawford, Mary Evelyn, Lana Beth and Kyson (Brother) McCray, James Crawford, Cora Hendrix, and soon to arrive Addie Grace Seale. He is also survived by his sister, Janice Reach and a host of nieces and nephews. 

His career in the tire business began in 1966 and spanned more than 50 years until his retirement in 2017. Robert was also a man of deep faith. He loved his church, Macedonia Baptist Church, where he was a devoted member for 54 years and faithfully served as pastor for 20 of those years. An outdoorsman at heart, Robert found joy in hunting, fishing, and spending time at the river, the pond or the dove or deer field with his grandsons and close friend, Bobby Tidmore. When he wasn't outdoors, he treasured filling his home with the laughter of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In his quiet moments, Robert could often be found with his loyal sidekick, Whiskers, by his side, watching his favorite westers. His life was a reflection of faith, family and love and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

The family would like to thank Dr. Leonard Jones and the staff of Tuskaloosa Internal Medicine, Greensboro Nursing Home and D.J. Thomas for the wonderful care they provided.

Pallbearers will be Caleb Crawford, Blake Seale, Jackson Seale, Craig Crawford, Brandon McCray, and Will Hendrix. 

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
