It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Richard (Rick) Morrow of Northport, Alabama. Rick was called to meet his Savior peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 19th, 2025. His family and friends are deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden passing as he was only 72 years old. Rick was born in Tennessee on September 15th, 1952, to Robert L. and Wadine Morrow.
Rick is survived and missed by his loving wife of 29 years, Lagetta; his sons Shawn (wife Kristi) and Cody (wife Brook); his stepdaughters Carie Donaldson Parmer (husband Wade), and Amanda Donaldson Galloway (husband Brad), and his brother, Robert Morrow, Jr. (wife Phyllis). He will be forever cherished and remembered by his grandchildren: Maci Morrow, Matti Morrow, Zane Morrow, Cale Morrow, Jackson Parmer, and Ella Grace Parmer. He also had honorary grandchildren that will miss Rick and treasure their memories of him: The Barker family (Greg, Renee, Craig and Emma), Madison Leiter, and all of the children at Northport Church of Christ (They all loved Mr. Rick). He is preceded in death by: Robert L. and Wadine Morrow (Father and Mother), sisters Becky and Pat, and brother Mike.
Rick Morrow lived a life of service and was the true example of a humble servant. Jesus calls for us to use our unique gifts to be stewards of God and Rick answered every call that was made to him. He loved helping others and that is often where you would find him. He always had the tool you needed, the knowledge you needed, or the patience you needed to get it done and he was always happy to share. Rick knew everyone and welcomed strangers as if they were family. He would give you the shirt off his back or the shoes off his feet if you were in need...and often did. That's just the kind of man he was.
Rick retired from the Tuscaloosa Fire Department where he served for 29 years as a Sergeant, and unofficially as shift cook, storyteller, and chief shenanigans coordinator. His experience as a fireman was an honor that allowed him another way to take care of others in their time of need. It also provided him with a brotherhood that created bonds of friendship that lasted a lifetime. His fireman family was an important part of his life, and his legacy continues with the Tuscaloosa Fired Department through his sons Lieutenant Shawn Morrow and Sergeant Cody Morrow.
Rick was a devoted Christian and loved his church (Northport Church of Christ) and his church family. He was honored to serve the church in any and every way he was able. The family would like to thank Rick and Lagetta's friends and church family for the love and support they have shown and continue to show through this difficult process. The family takes comfort in the words of Hebrews Chapter 6 verse 10 that reminds us that God will not forget our work and labor of love in serving others. Rick Morrow certainly labored with love.
Rick did not like to cause a big fuss, so, to honor his wishes, there will not be a funeral service. A small family service was held after his passing, just as he would have wanted. In memory of Rick, we ask that you provide acts of service to others. As suggested in First Peter chapter 4, verses 8-10, love each other deeply and serve one another with the gifts that God has given you. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rick Morrow could be made to Northport Church of Christ (205-339-6211) or the Tuscaloosa Christian Firefighters (Attn: Sgt. Josh Pate).
He will be missed more than words can say.
