Richard Kersey

Richard Edgar Kersey, age 86, of Florida, passed away April 28, 2025 in Vance, Alabama. Services will be be announced later under the care of Jacksonville Memory Gardens, in Orange Park, Florida.

Mr. Kersey was preceded in death by his parents, Jason Kersey and Signora Amundson Kersey; son, Richard Kersey Jr.; and former wife, Connie Kersey.

Survivors include his daughter, Barbie Smith, née Kersey (Lee Smith), and Dr. Deborah Dangar, née Kersey (David Dangar); grandchildren, Jarrod Kersey, Bert Smith, Luke Smith, Reese Kersey, Ross Kersey, and Rhett Kersey; and many other relatives whom he loved.

A devout Christian, he was born in Dade County in 1939. He attended the University of Florida. He dedicated two years to the Army Reserves. He worked as a land surveyor in Florida. He later became a Lab Technologist for the State of Florida.

Honorary pallbearers are Lakeside Church of Christ, Wesconnett Church of Christ, Jarrod Kersey, Bert Smith, Reese Kersey, Ross Kersey, Luke Smith, and Rhett Kersey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wesconnett Church of Christ for the mission work that Richard was passionate about.
