Pat E. Sharp, Jr., age 88, of Tuscaloosa, died Sept. 13, 2011. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Moundville United Methodist Church with Rev. Reba Wiley and Rev. Thomas Terry officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to services Friday at the church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Davis Sharp; his son, Pat E. Sharp, III; his infant daughter, Anna Louisa Sharp; his sister, Elizabeth Wiggins; and his parents, Pat and Lula Bell Kynard Sharp. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Findlay Sharp; his daughters, Kathy Sharp and Genie Elliott (C.D.) of Tuscaloosa; his son, Robert H. Sharp of Pasadena, Calif.; his sister, Virginia Sharp of Tuscaloosa; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Pat E. Sharp was born in Moundville, Ala. He graduated from Hale County High School Class of 1942 and served in the U.S. Merchant Marines. He was a farmer, worked for Standard Oil Co. and the U.S. Postal Service, and developed Pine Ridge Subdivision. He was very active in the community and church, supported Hale County Schools, and was an encourager to all. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Regina Harrell, Dr. Larry Skelton, DCH TSICU, Station #3 Tuscaloosa Fire Department, Morning Pointe Assisted Living, Merrill Gardens Assisted Living, Moundville Masonic Lodge, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Poole, Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Chandler, John D. Lavender, Danny Matherson, Mr. and Mrs. Manley Hall, Mr. and Mrs. Danny Butler, Clint Perry, Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Hester, friends of Moundville United Methodist Church, friends of Pine Ridge, and the many number of friends whose lives he touched. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pat E. Sharp Scholarship Fund established at the Bank of Moundville, P.O. Box 158, Moundville, AL 35474; and the Moundville United Methodist Church Building Fund.
