Jack Brewer

Jack Brewer passed away at Northport Medical Center on February 9, 2024. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Magnolia Chapel North. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 16, 2024, at New Hope Baptist Church, 16598 Romulus Rd, Buhl, Alabama, with Bro. Mike Trull officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel North directing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Joe Robert.

He is survived by his son, Jason Brewer; daughter, Joanna Dyer (Joe); granddaughters, Bentley and Baileigh Dyer; grandson, Parker Dyer; and brother, Frank Brewer (Jackie).

Jack was born on January 28, 1943, in Tuscaloosa to Willis Scott "Jack" Brewer and Gertrude McDonald Brewer. On August 30, 1963, he married Josephine Powell; they lived in Romulus for nearly 60 years until her passing in 2023.

Jack graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School and Shelton State Trade School. He was a barber in Northport and Romulus for over 40 years; and was a founding member of the Romulus Volunteer Fire Department. He served as a deacon at New Hope Baptist Church in Romulus.

Pallbearers will be Philip Brewer, Leslie Burroughs, John Clayton, Joe Dyer, Danny Kelley, Dick Leavelle and Curtis Shirley. 

Honorary pallbearers are members of the Romulus Volunteer Fire Department and his former coworkers at Village Hair Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Romulus Volunteer Fire Department or New Hope Baptist Church.
