Odessie Gilliland Anders, age 86, of Northport, passed away March 10, 2026, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be Friday, March 13, 2026, at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church with Rev. Glen Kennedy and Rev. Randy Anderson officiating and Magnolia Chapel North directing. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. with funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. and interment in the church cemetery following the service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Anders; parents, Auburn and Ozella Gilliland; sisters, Ruth McMichael, Ruby Perrigin, and Viola McAteer; nephew, Ricky McMichael (Jayne); and great-grandson, Clayton Hartley.
Survivors include her son, Mike Anders (Kathy); daughter, Lisa Whitcomb (Danny); nephew, Steve Perrigin; great-nephews, Matt and Michael Perrigin; great-niece, Balea Perrigin; grandsons, James and John Hartley; and great-granddaughter, Mayci Hartley.
Odessie served as a faithful servant to her Lord, to her church and to the community. Whenever someone in her community was sick, she was always there with her love, caring, and food. If she knew of someone in need, she was one of the first people to reach out to help.
Pallbearers will be Randy Anders, Ronnie Anders, Donny Jones, Steve Perrigin, Matt Perrigin, and John Rudowski.
Honorary pallbearers are members of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, Sulphur Springs Free Will Baptist Church, friends and neighbors of the Brownville and Moore's Bridge Community, employees of Northport Auto Supply, staff of Northport DCH, employees of Morning Pointe and Hospice of West Alabama, Charlie and Debbi West, Janice Winters, Ronnie Winters, Wayne and Karen Brown, Philip and Marietta Guin, Benay White, Frank Rudowski, Jimmy and Carol Jones, Brad and Melanie Spruiell, and Rubel Smith.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mt. Hebron Cemetery Fund or the charity of your choice.
