Newton Malone

Newton Marshall Malone, age 81, of Northport, Ala., passed away May 2, 2025 at Northport Medical Center. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Magnolia Chapel North with Bro. Patrick Cooley officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Alabama National Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel North directing. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Magnolia Chapel North.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Malone; his parents, Elgin M. and Mary Lee Malone; sister, Lorine Spain; nephew, Mark A. Malone; brothers-in-law, Charlie McDaniel; and Boyd Spain.

Survivors include his daughter, Darlene M. Davis (Don); sisters, Betsy McDaniel and Mary Ann Sellers (Bernie); twin brother, Charlie Malone (Lorene); grandchildren, Noah Garrett Davis, Nicholas Conner Davis, Adam Jack Davis, and Alywren Darlene Davis; and many nieces and nephews.

Newton Malone was born on July 23, 1943 at home to Elgin and Mary Lee Malone. He graduated in 1961 from Northside High School. He was married to the love of his life, Sara Malone for 51 years until her passing on July 12, 2023. He was drafted into the U. S. Army in 1965, where he earned the rank of Sgt., earned a National Defense Service Medal, was an accomplished marksman and spent time overseas in Korea. He went on to a career with the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office until his retirement. Newton and Sara enjoyed eating out at their favorite local restaurants, but mostly they spent all the time they could being the best Nana and Pawpaw. Newton loved the Lord, cherished his family, and enjoyed his visits with friends and past coworkers telling old stories and jokes while enjoying a meal together. Newton was a loving husband and father and the Best Pawpaw around. He will be greatly missed.

Pallbearers will be Noah Davis, Nick Davis, Adam Davis, Don Davis, Tommy McDaniel, Harold Parker, Jim Fair, and Don Wood.

Honorary pallbearers are friends and staff of City Café, Wright's Bakery, and The Front Porch, friends and past coworkers of TCSO, members of Northport Methodist Church, Northport Fire & Rescue, Northstar Ambulance, Northport DCH ED, and beloved neighbors of Brookside.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Northport Methodist Church, Children's Hospital of Alabama, or a church/organization of your choice.
