Michael Cunningham

Michael Purvis Cunningham, age 74, of Northport, Alabama, passed away December 13, 2023 at Northport Medical Center. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Bro. Tim Tindle officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Magnolia Chapel North directing. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; James "Doc" and Margaret Cunningham, and his brother William Troy Cunningham.

He is survived by his wife of almost 54 years Linda Smith Cunningham, daughters; Angie Phillips (Pat), April Sanders (Ronnie), Ashley Lyons (Tim), sister-in-law; Bernice Cunningham, brother; Jimmy Cunningham, Sr. (Jean), grandchildren; Camden Sanders, Ava Sanders, Abby Lyons, and Luke Lyons he is also survived by many nieces,nephews, cousins and friends and his four legged sidekicks Roscoe and Rudy.

Mike, a proud husband, daddy and pawpaw was loved by all who knew him. His family was his pride and joy. Having them all together meant the most to him. His wife of almost 54 years, Linda, was his true love. Together they raised and taught their girls to love the Lord and family always. Whether he was "piddling" , gardening, or fishing he loved being outside. He was a born again Christian who loved his Lord and was a life long member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. Although our hearts are broken, we rejoice in knowing we will see him again.

Pallbearers will be Pat Phillips, Ronnie Sanders, Tim Lyons, Camden Sanders, Eric Swanson, Ryan McCool, Brad McCool, George Evans and Ken Richardson.

Honorary pallbearers are family and friends of Mr. Olive Baptist Church, familes of Frank and Lola Smith, friends and neighbors of Highway 171, U of A Heating and plumbing and facilities, Walter and Betty Hannah, Buddy and Emily Tucker, Dr. and Mrs. William Hill, Dr. Harold Threadgill, and Dr. Scott Fulgham.
