Mary C. Hurter NORTHPORT Mary C. Hurter passed away peacefully at home Aug. 19, 2011. Mary was born Feb. 17, 1931, in Commerce, Texas. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, at Memory Hill Gardens with Rev. Jerry Croft and Rev. Mike Skelton officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Herman Clifton Hurter. She is survived by her sons, Cliff Hurter (Evangeline), Bill Hurter (Gayla), Mark Hurter (Beth), Al Hurter (Margaret), and Karl Hurter (Michelle); her sister, Anna Cate Blackmon and brother, Charles Cate; special nieces, Linda and Laura Blackmon and nephew, Robert Blackmon; brother-in-law, Skip Hurter (Norma Kay); nephew, Ronnie Miller (Nancy); 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Mary Hurter was a wonderful, loving wife and mother who celebrated life to the fullest. She and Cliff Hurter began Tuscaloosa Music Service in 1964 and made many dear friends. She will always be remembered for her kindness and love toward others as well as her wit. She was always a joy to be around. She professed her belief in Jesus Christ as her Savior and welcomed her union with Him. As we have celebrated her life with us, we now celebrate her life with Christ. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Anan Pandey, Dr. Debra Davis, Dr. Christopher Jordan, Dr. Vicki Keedy, Northport UMC, Union Chapel UMC, Christ Harbor UMC, Pastor John Kearns, Jane Lee, Margaret Tierce, Mildred Porter, Elizabeth Smelley, Paula and Terry Bigham, James Stephen, Ronnie and Mary Ann Robertson, Elden and Martha Willingham, Bryce Hospital employees and retirees and employees of Tuscaloosa Music Service.
