Leonard W. Smith

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Leonard "Wes" Smith, age 71, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on Thursday, July 24th, 2025.

Wes was raised in Greensboro before settling in Tuscaloosa, where he built a life full of love and purpose. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather. Wes never met a stranger—he greeted everyone with kindness and carried a positive outlook that lifted those around him. With a heart as big as his smile, he would do anything for anyone, leaving a meaningful impact on all who knew him. Above all, he leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and strength that will be carried on by his family.

Wes is survived by his beloved wife, Rhonda A. Smith; sons Thomas E. Smith (Rachel) and Wesley T Smith (Pamela); and grandchildren Parker E. Smith and Mason J. Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. Smith Jr. and Josephine E. Smith, and his brother, Charles E. Smith III.

A celebration of Wes's life will be held Tuesday, July 29th, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Magnolia Chapel South, with Reverend Arthur Thomas officiating. Magnolia Chapel South will be directing the service. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Greensboro, Alabama. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers are Parker Smith, Richard Deavours, Carl Roop, Danny Burch, Mat Carr, and Decie Harper. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Roger and Mary Dixon, Stan and Gay Gray, Balanced Angels of Mississippi.
