It is with deep sorrow we announce that Kayla Leigh Rutherford, age 36, of Northport, Alabama, went home to be with Jesus on February 24, 2026, at Hospice of West Alabama. The family will receive friends at 16135 Old Fayette Rd, Northport, AL 35475 on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Kayla had the biggest heart of anyone we knew, and there was always room for one more at her table. As a wife, mother, and friend, she never faltered. Kayla was steadfast in her love, unwavering in her loyalty, and selfless in every way. She loved with her whole being, giving of herself freely and thoughtfully.
Kayla had many accomplishments in her life. She had an associates degree of Music from Shelton State Community College, and a bachelors degree in fashion design from the University of Alabama.
Kayla was a faithful and loving wife to her husband, Josh for 16 wonderful years. When she decided to be a full-time mother, she excelled at that as well. She taught piano lessons, home-schooled their three children, tended a small farm, made soaps, canned food, gardened, sewed and much more. She poured herself into her friends and family.
Through years of battling cancer, she remained a warrior, fighting with courage, holding tightly to her faith in God, and never surrendering her hope or the joy that made her who she was. Her greatest joy, though, was being a mother. She set the bar high for all of us and made us better simply by knowing and loving her.
She is preceded by her grandparents Dwight and Dorothy Beams, and Billy and Merlene Williamson.
She is survived by her husband, Josh Rutherford and their 3 children Ellington, Emmaleigh, Jeremiah; Her brothers, Ryan and Cacey (Anna) Beams; and her Parents, Jeffry and Karen Beams.
Kayla was loved by many.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Hospice of West Alabama.
