John Gregory (Greg) Mills Sr., age 63, heard “Well done, good and faithful servant!” on March 6, 2026 after battling sickness at Grandview Hospital. He was surrounded by his family as they prayed and read Psalms over him until he was welcomed into the arms of the Lord.
Born on January 1, 1963 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and raised in Demopolis, Greg was a good man, husband, and father. After he met his wife Carol, they were engaged to be married 3 months later. He used his electrical engineering degree and hard work ethic to build up his laundromat business, one he enjoyed and allowed him time to be at all his children’s events as they grew up.
Greg loved his family so well. He was faithful, selfless, wise, and valued honesty and integrity. Throughout his life, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, Alabama football, running marathons with his buddies, loving his grand-dogs, and spending time at the beach with his wife. If you got one-on-one time with him, you’d realize he remembered just about everything, and made everyone laugh with how he could tell stories.
Even amidst his health challenges, he didn’t complain and developed a deeper faith. He found peace in the verse, “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” He is healed with God’s very breath in his lungs.
He is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Hannah Gils (Ezequiel), son John Gregory Mills Jr.; his mother Ardith Mills; brother Tim Mills (Lisa); his sister-in-law Pam Bramlett (Milton); brother-in-law David Duncan (Robin); and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rufus (Buck) Mills; niece, Olivia Mills; sister-in-law Nancy May; and in-laws Ralph and Gloria Duncan.
Pallbearers are Wes Henderson, Hugh Gibbs, Bob Cockrell, Ezequiel Gils, Jason Gray, John L Wright, David Duncan, Milton Bramlett, Jonathan Venable, Matt Gray, and Keith Dollar.
Services will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. at Capstone Church, 4115 Watermelon Rd., Northport, AL 35473. Graveside will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Moundville, AL. Family will receive visitors at the church at 1:30 p.m.
