Jessie Armon Rogers, 94 of Moundville, passed away January 14, 2026 at Hospice of West Alabama. The Celebration of Life has been rescheduled from Saturday to Wednesday due to the potential for inclement weather. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 11:00 am at Moundville Baptist Church with Magnolia Chapel South directing. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his daughter, DeLane Rogers Bailey (Chris), his grandchildren, Lindsey Rogers Smith (Jeff), Jennifer Rogers Fierbaugh (Wes), Marcie Rogers Morris (Justin), John Rogers Bailey (Carolyn), Walton James Bailey and his fiance Presley Oswalt. He is survived by five great- grandchildren: Anderson Smith, Lydia Smith, Cooper Cowley, Carter Morris and Garrett Morris. He is also survived by his brother, Eugene Rogers (Betty) of Northport and sister-in-law, Bobbie Rogers of Fayette, Alabama. He was loved deeply by many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Rogers was born on September 13, 1931, to Rich and Appie Rogers. He went on to marry the love of his life Mattie Mae Hall Rogers. They were married for 69 years and they welcomed two children, David Armon Rogers who preceded them in death, and Emily Delane Rogers Bailey. He worked for the City of Moundville until his retirement when he began to enjoy daily coffee visits with friends, fishing and working in his garden. He was an active member of Moundville Baptist Church where he was a deacon for over fifty years and was honored as Deacon Emeritus for his many years of faithful service.
Armon’s family was the focus and joy of his life. He was a devoted husband, loving fatherand a beloved grandfather and great-grandfather. He filled his days caring for his lovedones and watching and supporting them in whatever endeavors they were involved in. He was a constant companion to his wife after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and never missed a single day in seven years visiting her at Moundville Health & Rehab.
It was very rare for him to miss any activity his children, grand-children and even great/grandchildren were involved in. He cheered from the stands as he watched them twirl, dance, cheer and play football and baseball. He even traveled, a few years ago, to Grand Junction, Colorado, to watch his grandson play in the junior college world series.
Armon loved people and never met a stranger. He had a gift for befriending anyone he met. He was often jokingly referred to as the “Mayor” of Moundville Health & Rehab because he knew and was so loved by everyone there. Armon truly had a love for the Lord and shared the gospel as often as possible. His faith guided his life until the day he took his last breath.
