George Jones

George Jones, age 81 of Northport, passed away on December 13, 2020 at DCH Regional Medical Center. A 2:00 pm  graveside service will be held on December 19, 2020, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Magnolia Chapel North directing.

He is preceded in death by his son; "Jimmy" Joe Jones, brother; Joe Jones, sister; Mattie Sue Pope and parents; Rufus and Ruby Jones.

Survivors include his wife; Annie Armstrong of Northport, daughter; Alice Morrison of Little Rock, AR., step-daughter; Terrica Wineek (Joe) of Bessemer, AL. , sons; George E. Jones (Linda) Brisbane, Australia, Robbie Gills (Donita) of Fayette, step- son; Terry Merritt (Melvin) of Tuscaloosa, sisters; Carolyn Westbrook and Leenette Edwards both of Linden, Alabama, Terri Yelverton of Demopolis, Alabama, and Joyce Jones of Smith Station, Alabama, brothers; Jimmy Jones of Demopolis, Al., R.J Red Jones of Bayou La Batre, Alabama and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends.

After high school George joined the U.S. Army, married and lived in Watertown, New York for many years. After his military service he worked as a millwright. He loved playing his guitar and harmonica.

Pallbearers will be Robbie Gills, Eric Jones, Shannon Jones, Mike Edwards, Chadwick Sanders, and Steven Sanders. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of DCH Hospital in Tuscaloosa, VA Hospital Physicians in Tuscaloosa.
