Donald Adams

Donald Leigh Adams, age 73, of Tuscaloosa, died Aug. 22, 2011, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Memorial services will be Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South. He was preceded in death by his parents, Basil Adams and Louise Andrews Adams, and his brother, Esmond Adams. Survivors include his nephews, Ruskin Adams of St. Louis, Mo. and Thomas Adams of Jefferson City, Mo. Born November 13, 1937, in Birmingham, Don grew up in Huntsville and graduated high school there in 1955. He received a B.S. from the University of Alabama in 1959, an M.S. from Auburn in 1967, and a Ph.D. from Georgia in 1972. Don taught Psychology as an Associate Professor at Fort Valley State University from 1971 to 1995 and founded the university's Psychology Department. He retired to Tuscaloosa, where he followed his beloved Crimson Tide football. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Donald L. Adams Scholarship Fund at Birmingham-Southern College or the Humane Society of Tuscaloosa. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South is in charge of arrangements.
