Dewey Devon Lankford

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Dewey Devon Lankford, age 78, of Northport, Alabama. Dewey passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026.

Dewey proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. Following his time in the Air Force, he pursued his dream of becoming a nightclub owner and entertainer.

Dewey had a love for life and enjoyed dirt track racing and spending time with family and friends.

Dewey was predeceased by his father, Reverend Dewey C. Lankford; mother, Inez Lankford; brother, Gerald D. Lankford; and three sisters, Elmina King, Edwina Gibbs, and Hulene Smith.

He is survived by his faithful and loving wife of 57 years, Mary Lankford; daughter, Denee' Lankford-Dockery (Sam Dockery); son, De' Ray Devon Lankford (Alicia Braswell); granddaughter, Alexia Morgan Dockery; and several nieces and nephews.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to all the doctors and staff at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama who gave him the best care.

Magnolia Chapel North is assisting the family with his final care. At the family's request, there will be no service at this time.
