Darla Jean Shelby | NORTHPORT Darla Jean Shelby, age 54, of Northport, died April 3, 2011, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Haygood Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Montgomery and Frances Prickett officiating. Burial will follow in Haygood Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Beverly Cannon; and her sister, Glenda Phillips. Survivors include her husband, Paul Shelby; her daughter, Paula Shelby; her sons, Daniel Shelby and D.J. Taylor (Molly); her brother, Jerry Cannon (Margaret); and her grandchildren, Maddie Grace and Josie Quinn Taylor. Darla never met a stranger. She always had a smile on her face and made people laugh. She was the most loving, caring, and giving person. Darla loved planting flowers and spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandkids- they loved their Nana Puddin', and she loved them so much. She is in a better place watching over us now. Fly high, Mom. We love you- gone, but not forgotten. Pallbearers will be Jake Norris, Justin Curington, Brandon Woods, Dalton Farley, Curry Bennett, Brad Bolton, and Jeremy Garrison. Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Coppock, Dr. Hillman, Dr. Lucy, staff of TSICU, Kimberly Roberts, Emily Delaney, Tony Mills, Becky Moerbe, faculty and students of Northside High School, and numerous friends and family of the Samantha community.
