Northport - Chester George Johnson, age 80, of Northport, AL passed away at home on July 23, 2026. A memorial service will be held July 27, 2026 at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will start at 12pm with service to follow at 1pm.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest H. and Lola M. Johnson, brothers Dr. Hiram L. Johnson (Pat) and Gary Johnson (Pat). Survivors include his wife, Mary Evelyn Neighbors Johnson, children, Misty Fanning (Brad) of Northport, AL, Jay McClure of Chattanooga, TN, daughter-in-law, Leslie McClure of Kennesaw, GA and the joys of his life, grandchildren, Riley McClure, Brady Fanning and Clay Fanning.

He graduated from Century High School in 1963 and proudly served in the United States Army from 1966-1969. After being honorably discharged, he attended the University of Alabama, graduating in 1972. He retired from GM/Delphi in 2001.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Northwood Hills Baptist Church in honor of Chester.

Chester will be missed immensely by all who knew him.
