Carol Dean Reed, age 85, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., passed away April 29, 2025 at her residence. Graveside services will be 12 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2025, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Bro. Herb Thomas officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Reed; parents, Arthur and Nan Burgess; brothers, Jimmy Burgess, Joe Burgess, Ronnie Burgess, and Jerry Burgess; and beloved dog, Lucy.
Survivors include her daughters, Robin Hoyle (Steve) of Tuscaloosa, and Rhonda Reed of Cottondale; sister, Marcy Norris of Northport; grandchildren, Nikki Ward (Brent) of Tuscaloosa, Andy Hoyle (Kimberly) of Coaling, and Lee Hoyle (Leslie) of Cottondale; eight great-grandchildren, special family members, Carol Burgess and Martha Weakley; and numerous other family members.
Carol graduated from Winfield High School in 1958. Her senior year she earned the title Miss Winfield High School and best dressed. She married Robert and soon became a military wife. They lived in various locations, but later called Tuscaloosa home. Family held an important place in her heart. She was always grateful for memories made with family and friends. She had a gifted skill for sewing and cooking and also loved to be outdoors working in her yard and growing the most beautiful roses and plants. Each year she enjoyed when the hummingbirds came so she could care for them as well as daily feeding birds and squirrels who visited. Her faith she held close to her heart. For many years she actively taught Sunday School. Her kind and humble sould will always be remembered in our hearts.
Pallbearers will be Lee Hoyle, Andy Hoyle, Bobby Hoyle, Brent Ward, Greg Burgess, and Cliff Robinson.
Honorary pallbearers are her best friend, Lorene Sims, friends and family of Circlewood Baptist Church, Naomi Sunday School Class, Cahaba Medical Care, Amedysis Home Health, and Hospice of West Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
