Aubrey H. Burns Jr. of Fosters, AL passed away on August 22, 2026, peacefully and surrounded by family at his home in Fosters.
He was proceeded in death by his Father Aubrey Sr. and his Mother Ellen,1st wife Doris Burns (Moore), second wife Hilda Weaver Burns, sons Mike and Joe Burns, and step-daughter Stephanie Geer.
He is survived by daughter Donna Roy (Robert), stepson Dickie Weaver (Sheila), son-in-law Ricky Geer, brother Frank Burns (Bobbie), sister Evelyn Daniels, adopted daughter Debra Hill, grandchildren Brandy (Matthew), Ronnie (Elizabeth), DeeDee, Dana, Ashley, (Anthony), Ricky (Kristen), and Jennifer (David), a loving group of thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
Aubrey (known as PawPaw to his family) was born August 28, 1931 in Fosters, Alabama. At the age of 18, he joined the United States Navy and served proudly as a Boiler Technician of the 3rd Class, and was honorably discharged in June of 1954. He later joined Dixie Steel as a welder and then McAbee Construction as a foreman.
A gentleman full of life and vigor, he loved music and dancing at the Northport Community Center, along with the Old Time Fireman’s Lodge. Also, a man of the outdoors, he loved camping and fishing. He loved sports, and faithfully cheered for his beloved Crimson Tide.
Aubrey was as kind and as giving as any could be. He always made sure that all in his family were taken care of and would never allow any to do without anything needed. A more loving man there never has been.
Pallbearers for the service will be: Ricky Geer Jr., Anthony Ford, Alex Krallman, Gene Herron, Michael Johnson, Matthew Gaddy, Ronnie Roy, and Andy White.
Honorary Pallbearers are Sydney with Right at Home, the staff of Enhabit Hospice Care, members of The Old Fireman’s Lodge, the community of Fosters, members of Grant’s Creek Baptist Church, and dear friend David Lee.
Services will be held on, Thursday August 27, 2026 at 10:00 am at Grants Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Garvin officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
