Arthur Hartley

On May 31st, 2026, Arthur Hartley age 80 passed away at his home in Akron, Al. Arthur was born December 22nd, 1945, to David and Mary Lane Hartley. Funeral Services are directed by Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home (South) and will be held at Mt. Hebron Baptist in Akron, Al on Thursday June 4th, 2026, at 2pm with visitation one hour prior, his burial will follow the services where he will be laid to rest in Mt. Hebron Cemetery with Pastors Leon White and Rick Crawford officiating.

Arthur is proceeded in death by his parents, David and Mary Lane Hartley, a son “Baby Boy” Hartley, a daughter Delaine Brand, brothers David Hartley Jr, Kenneth R. Hartley, James F. Hartley and one great-grand son.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years Annie P. Hartley, his son Arthur Hartley Jr (Tina), and Daughter Angela L. Ramsey (Woody). Grandchildren include Jessica C. Phillips, Brittany H. Clanton (Cody Clanton), Paul M. “Bubba” Phillips, Monica H. Phillips, Katie L. Ramsey, Montana D. Ramsey, and 15 great-grandchildren. Survivors also include siblings Earnest T. Hartley, Dorothy M Patton, Lawrence W. Hartley (Carolyn), Patricia A. Smith (Stanley), Daniel E. Hartley (Mary) and a host of brothers and sisters in love, nieces and nephews and cousins that held a special place in his heart.

Pallbearers include William Bunn, Jeff Hartley, Marcus Hartley, Matthew Hartley, Justin Hartley, Bubba Phillips.

Honorary Pallbearers include friends of Fellowship Baptist Church and Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, Drs and staff at the VA in Tuscaloosa, Hospice of West Alabama, and Amedisys.

With profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Arthur Hartley, a devoted Christian, faithful deacon, loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and "Pawpaw" to many.

Arthur dedicated his life to serving God, his church, his community and his country. He was a US Army veteran. He served as a deacon for many years at Fellowship Baptist and Mt Hebron Baptist. As a deacon, he faithfully ministered to others with humility, compassion, and unwavering faith. He was known for his servant's heart, gentle spirit, and steadfast commitment to sharing God's love through both word and deed. His example of Christian living inspired countless people throughout his life.

To his family, Arthur was a source of strength, wisdom, and unconditional love. As a husband, he cherished his marriage and faithfully cared for his family. As a father, he provided guidance, encouragement, and a lasting example of integrity and faith. As a brother, he shared enduring bonds of love and support.

Known affectionately as "Pawpaw," Arthur's love extended far beyond his immediate family. He always welcomed others with open arms, a warm smile, and a kind heart. His children,grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him immense joy, and he treasured every moment spent sharing stories, laughter, wisdom, and love with them. His presence created a sense of comfort and belonging for all who knew him.

Arthur found great joy in worship, fellowship, and helping those in need. He was a source of encouragement and strength to his family, church family, and friends. His faith was the foundation of his life, guiding him through every season with grace and trust in the Lord.

While his passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who loved him, they find comfort in the promise of eternal life and rejoice in knowing that Arthur has entered the presence of his Savior. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the family he loved, and the faith he so faithfully lived.

As Scripture reminds us and he longed to hear "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Arthur Hartley will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever treasured by all who had the blessing of knowing him.

May he rest in the eternal peace and glory of the Lord.
