June Smelley, age 80 of Coker, passed away August 5,2019, at Northport Medical Center. Services will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2019, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel North directing. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Tingle; son, Jeffrey Hargrove; grandson, Timothy Hargrove; daughter-in-law, Lynn Hargrove; brothers, Luther Hobson, Brewster Hobson and James Tingle; father, Lewis Tingle, Sr.; and sister, Shirley Tingle Criss.
Survivors include husband, Robert Jerry Smelley; daughters, Dana Anderson (Anthony), Lisa Smelley Hollingsworth (Ronny), Renea Smelley Henson; son, Jimmy W. Hargrove, Jr. (Dottie); brother, Lewis Tingle, Jr. (Betty); grandchildren, Blake Hargrove (Renee), Matthew Hargrove (Kayla), Will Henson, Ballard Henson and Marlee Turner; and great-grandchildren, Asher Hargrove, Caleb Hargrove and Valor Hargrove; and nieces and nephews.
June was a loving wife to her husband Jerry for 33 years. She was also a loving and nurturing mother, grandmother, sibling and friend. She loved life to the fullest and those around her. She had a gift for cooking for many people and making people laugh. Her passion was designing evening gowns which she was part owner of One Enchanted Evening. She was a former employee of Alabama Central Credit Union, and the University of Alabama. June was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. She is gone to be with her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.
Pallbearers will be Will Henson, Tony Gray, Todd Gray, Blake Hargrove, Matthew Hargrove and Brad Gray.
Honorary pallbearers are friends, neighbors and members of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
